The simplest and quite possibly one of the best pizza dough recipe out there. This will surely become on of your favourite pizza recipes. You can have it anyway you like, whether it be thin crust or thick crust.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups lukewarm water (470 grams)
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 5 1/4 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour (680 grams)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Method

Using either the bowl of your standup mixer (or any large bowl if you are going to knead by hand) add warm water to yeast and sugar. Let this mixture rest for approximately 5 minutes. Then stir everything together. Once this is done you have two options, you can either continue using your machine or hand.

Mixing by machine

Put the olive oil, salt and flour into the mixture bowl and using the dough hook attachment start mixing the ingredients on low speed. Scrape the dough off the hook and increase the speed to medium and continue kneading for 5 minutes or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

Mixing by hand

  1. Add the flour, salt and olive oil into a bowl and mix together with a fork until it becomes doughy in consistency. Place the dough on a countertop dusted with flour. Knead the dough until it becomes elastic and smooth. This should take you approximately 10 minutes. Add more flour if the dough is too sticky.
  2. Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with cling film or a kitchen towel. Leave the dough to rest in a warm yet draft free space until it has doubled in size. This will take approximately 2 hours.
  3. Cut the dough into three smaller balls. Then once again let it rest for 20 minutes.
  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and flatten the dough to form pizza bases.
  5. Add sauce and your choice of topping the pizza. Do not add too much as this can make the pizza soggy.
  6. Transfer the pizza onto a lightly floured pizza peel.
  7. Heat the Outi pizza oven for about 15 minutes then add your pizza and cook for 1-2 minutes, turning every 30 seconds.
  8. ENJOY!!
